Osceola County Sheriff’s Office (“Agency”) Social Media Terms of Use
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office (“Agency”) Social Media Terms of Use establish guidelines for
Agency-maintained social media sites, pages, and posts on social media platforms, including but not limited to
Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube.
The primary purpose of the Agency’s social media presence is to increase public awareness of Agency programs,
services, policies, and public-safety initiatives, and to promote open, professional, and respectful communication
with the community. The Agency recognizes and respects the rights of all individuals to free speech and lawful
expression.
Agency social media pages are monitored by authorized administrators. While comments will not be edited, the
Agency reserves the right to restrict or remove content that violates these Terms of Use, consistent with
applicable law. Comments should remain relevant to the topic of the post or the purpose of the page.
Agency-administered social media accounts are intended for informational and community-engagement purposes only.
They are not monitored 24/7 and should not be used to report crimes, request emergency assistance, or seek

By participating on Agency-maintained social media pages, users agree to comply with these Terms of Use and to
post content that is lawful, respectful, and relevant to the discussion or forum topic.
Prohibited Content
The following content is prohibited on all Agency-maintained social media pages:
- Obscene, vulgar, threatening, defamatory, or harassing language.
- Personal attacks or content that advocates unlawful discrimination based on race, color, national origin, age,
religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, or physical or mental disability. - Content that advocates, promotes, depicts, or facilitates illegal activity.
- Personally identifiable or sensitive information, including but not limited to Social Security numbers, dates of
birth, home addresses, or financial information. - Sexually explicit or indecent material.
- Commercial solicitations, promotions, or advertisements not authorized by the Agency.
- Statements that endanger public safety or security, or that encourage, instruct, or solicit criminal activity.
- Content that violates intellectual property rights, including copyrights or trademarks.
- Spam, repetitive posts, automated content, or coordinated inauthentic behavior.
- Misinformation, disinformation, or materially misleading or deceptive content, including content presented in a
manner intended to mislead the public. - External links intended to promote commercial activity or unrelated content.
Public Records & Disclaimer
Agency-maintained social media pages constitute a limited public forum. Content posted on these pages may be
subject to public records retention and disclosure requirements under Florida law.
The views and opinions expressed by members of the public do not necessarily reflect those of the Osceola County
Sheriff’s Office, the Sheriff, or Agency employees.
These Terms of Use may be amended or modified by the Agency at any time without prior notice.
