Job Description

The Court Services Deputy Sheriff will maintain order, safety, and proper decorum in the courtroom, maintain court confidentiality, and will not discuss any court matters with any person except in connection with official duty. The employee will carry out the court’s orders, provide courtroom security, notify the judge when a defendant is a security threat, and conduct courtroom security inspections for contraband before court begins

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Graduated from a Florida Criminal Justice Academy, or currently enrolled to start the application process, and successfully pass the state exam.
  • Must be able to work any hours or days as needed (Special events, potential natural disasters i.e., Hurricanes).
  • No marijuana usage in the last 365 days. No usage of other controlled substances in the past three years.
  • Successfully pass a physical agility test (PAT), medical physical, drug screen examination, and truth verification test.
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony.
  • Must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor involving moral character, false statement, perjury, or domestic violence.
  • Must be able to complete the Judicial Services Field Training Program.
  • Must be willing to give a two-year commitment.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods.

  • Must have good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be able to prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to enter and retrieve information promptly and accurately.
