Hurricane Season: June 1 – November 30
As hurricane season begins, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office urges all residents and businesses to be prepared. The time to plan is now—before a storm is on the radar.
1. Make a Plan

Family Communication Plan: Ensure every family member knows how to get in touch and where to meet after a storm.

Evacuation Routes: Know your evacuation zone and have multiple routes planned.

Special Needs: Register with the Osceola County Special Needs Shelter Registry if someone in your home has medical or mobility issues.
2. Build a Disaster Supply Kit
Your kit should include:

At least 3 days of water (1 gallon per person, per day)

Non-perishable food

Flashlights and extra batteries

Manual can opener

Battery-powered or hand-cranked radio

Medications and first-aid supplies

Essential documents (IDs, insurance papers, medical records)

4. Secure Your Home

5. After the Storm

Stay indoors until officials say it’s safe.

Avoid flooded roads and downed power lines.

Use generators outdoors only and away from windows.

Check on neighbors, especially the elderly or those living alone.
