Captain Kim Montes spent 29 years as a Florida State Trooper. Her career began in 1994 in Orlando Fl. She was a member of the COPS squad and started FHP’s free car seat program. That program would go statewide, and thousands of car seats were handed out to needy families. She became the spokesperson for Troop D-Orlando in 2000, at the rank of trooper, covering six Central Florida Counties. She spent the next 20 years as the Public Affairs Officer for FHP, rising to the rank of Lieutenant, before retiring in 2022.
After her retirement, she began volunteering at Orange County Animal Services and is currently a board member for “Kindness for Cats”. She has fostered kittens for the last 10 years and supports other animal rescues.
Captain Montes joined the Osceola Sheriff Office in July 2025, as the Public Information Officer. She has years of experience working with our media partners and other community members. She is thrilled to be back at work and loving working as a deputy.
Captain Montes’ husband is a state trooper with almost 40 years of experience. She has a grown son, 3 grown stepchildren and two grandkids.
