Job Description

The Public Records and Validation Clerk performs routine but highly responsible data entry, public records, and operational and support duties specific to the unit. Responsibilities include but are not limited to data entry, quality control, compiling statistical data, maintaining a filing and archive system, distributing internal and external mail, responding to public record requests, assigning Uniform Traffic Citations, and other general clerical functions. The clerk must be able to multi-task and work in a team setting while positively functioning under time constraints. The clerk must use good interpersonal skills, including dealing politely and effectively with citizens who may be emotionally upset, excited, or distraught. The employee will also provide administrative support and assistance to other personnel. The employee will perform other duties assigned by the supervisor or designee.

Requirements:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must pass a typing test with 25 wpm and 90% accuracy.
  • Must be willing to become FCIC/NCIC certified.
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony.
  • Must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor involving moral character, false statement, perjury, or domestic violence.

Knowledge, Skills &Abilities:

  • Must have good phone etiquette.
  • Must have good verbal communication, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Must have strong customer service skills
  • Must possess initiative and be able to prioritize duties to meet deadlines
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, use of computers, Internet, and Spillman
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
