Job Description

The Information Security Analyst will oversee system and network security, investigate and respond to cyber threats, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing data security in law enforcement agencies. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of cybersecurity, law enforcement operations, and the unique security challenges law enforcement organizations face.

Requirements and preferences:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
    • Must have or obtain CompTIA Security+ Certification within six (6) months of accepting the position.
    • Must be able to provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotating basis and be “available” 24/7.
    • In an emergency or disaster, employees may be required to promptly fulfill duties assigned by their department or Osceola County’s Emergency Operations Center before, during, or after the event.

    • 2-3 years of experience in cybersecurity preferred.
    • Demonstrated experience with security protocols, incident response, and risk management.
    • Hands-on experience with security monitoring tools, firewalls, IDS/IPS systems, and endpoint protection.
    • Experience working with regulatory compliance standards related to law enforcement data protection (e.g., CJIS, NIST) is preferred.
    • Experience in a law enforcement, public sector, or government-related role is preferred.

  • Industry-recognized certifications preferred, such as:
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
    • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
    • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
    • Certified Cybersecurity Forensic Investigator (CCFI)
    • CompTIA Security+
    • CJIS Security Certification

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong technical proficiency in network security, system administration, digital forensics, and security incident management.
  • Familiarity with law enforcement technology such as body-worn cameras, license plate readers, and criminal databases is preferred.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to identify threats, analyze complex data, and provide actionable insights.
  • Attention to detail: Must spot anomalies and vulnerabilities in security systems that could jeopardize sensitive law enforcement data.
  • Communication skills: Ability to present complex security issues to non-technical stakeholders clearly and concisely.
  • Collaboration and teamwork: Ability to work effectively with other law enforcement personnel, IT staff, and external organizations.
  • Time management: Able to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic and high-pressure environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift objects up to 50 pounds with a full range of motion, including bending, grasping, kneeling, and reaching to operate and repair computer equipment.
