IT Systems Engineer
Job Description
The Systems Engineer will perform technical and analytical work in developing infrastructure designs for current and future strategies. Information technology goals, objectives, and initiatives will be prioritized while building, maintaining, and troubleshooting the agency’s infrastructure. The team will be comprised of talented engineers who demonstrate superb technical competency. The Systems Engineer will deliver mission-critical infrastructure and, ensure the highest levels of availability, performance, and security and maintain documentation to support operations. The employee will perform all duties listed below and any other duties assigned by the supervisor or designee.
Requirements:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate’s Degree with two (2) years of experience in a technology-related field.
- Must have or obtain Security+ Certification within one year of accepting the position.
- Must be able to provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotating basis.
- Must have two (2) years of verified work experience with computing or technology.
- Experience with Automation, Windows (Client/Server) Administration, Linux Exchange Administration, and Management, and PKI Certificate Administration and Management is preferred.
- Preference will be given to those with Avaya or Nextiva Phone Systems Experience.
Knowledge, Skills &Abilities:
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Must be able to think analytically, creatively, and independently.
- Must be able to communicate information both written and verbally effectively.
- Must be able to programmatically script and improve application system design.
- Must be able to perform complex root-cause analysis.
- Must understand database tools such as SQL and Web Programming.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift objects up to 35 pounds with a full range of motion, including bending, grasping, kneeling, and reaching to operate and repair computer equipment.

Paid Time Off (PTO)
Members gain 16 hours of PTO each month.
Longevity Benefit
The Longevity Benefit awarded to members who have completed five (5) or more years of continuous service with the agency. Beginning with the 5th completed year of service, eight (8) additional hours are added to the member’s PTO balance for each year of service.
Example: A ten-year member receives 96 hours of PTO each year. An additional 48 hours of longevity pay is awarded and deposited into his/her PTO on the merit date.
Education Reimbursement
Members who attend an accredited college or university can receive compensation for completed classes. Members pursuing an undergraduate degree can receive $2,000 per fiscal year; the graduate degree can receive $3,000 per fiscal year.
