Captain Calvas began his law enforcement career shortly after being honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 2005. He has been with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office since 2007, starting as a patrol deputy for three years. During his time with the agency, he gained experience in various areas, including narcotics and criminal investigations. He was a member of the SWAT team for approximately nine years.
Captain Calvas has earned promotions to sergeant and lieutenant, supervising both the patrol and narcotics units, as well as the Osceola County Investigative Bureau (OCIB) and the Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET). As a lieutenant, he served as the Director of the Osceola Narcotics Investigative Bureau Task Force. In January 2024, he was appointed as the Acting Captain for the west and south patrol divisions.
He holds an associate’s degree in arts and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business and organizational leadership. Additionally, Captain Calvas graduated from Valencia College’s Public Safety Development and Leadership Course. He has served a total of six years in the United States Navy.
