Captain Joel Guevara

Community Outreach

Captain Joel Guevara was born and raised in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, and has over 20 years of experience in law enforcement. He began his career with the Edgewood Police Department and has spent the last 19 years at the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

At the Edgewood Police Department, he started as a patrol officer. At the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, he began as a deputy on patrol. He subsequently advanced to serve as a Detective in the Narcotics Enforcement Team, the Persons Crimes Unit, and the Violent Crimes Unit. Captain Guevara was promoted to Sergeant in 2016, serving in the Patrol Division, the Narcotics Enforcement Team, and the Special Victims Unit. In 2023, he was promoted to Lieutenant, where he was one of the Lieutenants in the Westside Patrol Division. His most recent achievement was his promotion to Captain in 2024, where he now oversees the Outreach Services Division.

Captain Guevara has shared a strong and loving bond with his wife for over 18 years. This enduring relationship reflects his character, and it is this same commitment that he brings to his role as a public servant, dedicated to serving the residents and visitors of Osceola County.
