Major Kevin McGinley –
Criminal Investigations Bureau

Major Kevin McGinley has over 26 years of law enforcement experience including 4 years with the United States Air Force and the rest with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.  He has served in Patrol as a deputy and Field Training Officer, as well as serving as a detective in the Criminal Investigations Division. Major McGinley was promoted to Sergeant over patrol, criminal investigations, Training Division, Internal Affairs Division and the Community Response Team. When he was promoted to Lieutenant he oversaw Special Operations, Criminal Investigations, and training. When promoted to Captain he oversaw criminal investigations. Major McGinley started on Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) in 1996 and is currently the high risk incident commander. Over that time, he has served as an operator, sniper, team leader and team commander. In 2017 he was promoted to Major by Sheriff Russell Gibson and currently oversees the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

Major McGinley has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Columbia College and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from University of Central Florida. Major McGinley graduated from Leadership Osceola in 2013 and The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy in 2017. Major McGinley is a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Knights of Columbus.
