Captain Dan Weis has over 27 years of law enforcement experience including two years with the United States Marshal’s Service and 25 years with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office
He has served in the Patrol Division as a deputy and Field Training Officer, as well as a detective in the Criminal Investigations Division. Captain Weis was promoted to and served as sergeant over the Property Crimes Unit, Internal Affairs Unit and Human Resources. He was promoted to Lieutenant in the Patrol Division and the Research and Development Unit. He was promoted to Captain and was over the Support Services Division, Special Operations Division and the West Side Patrol Division. He was promoted to Major and managed the Administrative Bureau.
Over that time, he was a Field Training Officer, Hostage Negotiator and served on many community boards. In 2019, Sheriff Russell Gibson promoted Dan Weis to Captain and he currently oversees the Judicial Services Division.
Captain Dan Weis has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Florida and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Troy University. Captain Weis graduated from Leadership Osceola in 2008 and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy in 2009. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Valencia College and Columbia College.
