Suspect Arrested for Aggravated Assault
Osceola County, Florida – On March 27 at approximately 8:25 a.m., Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 4700 block of West 192 in Kissimmee. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim who indicated he was riding his bicycle on West 192 when a red Dodge pick up truck pulled up next to him. He saw someone in the truck point a BB gun at him. Then he saw the driver of the pick up, later identified as Richard Delgado-Mendez, get out of the truck and approach the victim raising a large sword. The victim pulled out a knife in an attempt to protect himself. Mendez left the scene and the victim then called law enforcement.
A short distance away, deputies located Mendez near the KOA campground. They placed Mendez and another passenger, Kristian Rodriguez into custody. Mendez initially did not cooperate with the investigation but eventually told deputies he had been in previous disputes with the victim. He told Rodriguez to hide the BB gun. Deputies also spoke with Rodriguez who told them he attempted to hide the BB gun. Deputies located both the BB gun and sword nearby.
Based on their statements and the evidence, Mendez was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Tampering with Evidence. Rodriguez was arrested and charged with Tampering with Evidence. Both suspects were booked into the Osceola County Jail.
