Registered Felon Charged with 7-Eleven Robbery
Osceola County, Florida – Osceola County Sheriff’s detectives charged Rodney Simmons, a registered felon, with Robbery. The investigation began on February 22 when deputies responded to 7-Eleven located at 2975 N. Orange Blossom Trail in Kissimmee. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with an employee who indicated an unknown black male entered the store. He requested a box of cigarettes and attempted to pay with a debit card. Before the transaction was completed, the suspect grabbed the cigarettes and ran out of the store. The employee chased him out of the store and pushed him on the ground. The suspect was able to flee the scene. He did leave behind evidence which helped detectives identify the suspect as Rodney Simmons.
On February 25, deputies received information Simmons was at Florida Hospital South. They made contact with him and he cooperated with the investigation. A felony warrant was obtained and once released from the hospital; he will be booked into the Orange County Jail.
