Osceola County, Florida – On April 27 at approximately 4:39 p.m., Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Highland’s Elementary School. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a school employee who indicated a parent picking up her children appeared intoxicated while waiting in her car.
Deputies made contact with the parent, Carlhie Thompson, who was in her vehicle with four children, ages 2-11 years old. Deputies observed Thompson’s eyes appeared glassy/bloodshot and they detected an odor of alcohol on her breath. Deputies conducted a series of field sobriety tests and based on her performance, Thompson was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence and 4 counts of Child Neglect.
In addition, a breathalyzer test revealed Thompson was three times over the legal limit. She was arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail.
