Osceola County, Florida – Today, at approximately 10:39 a.m., Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies patrolling in the area of the Tropicana Motel, 4131 W. Vine Street located a vehicle that was reported stolen from the Poinciana area earlier this morning. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the driver, later identified as Iris Marie Ortiz and passenger Todd Williams. Ortiz fled the parking lot at a high rate of speed so deputies stopped following the vehicle.

A short time later, the vehicle was located in a residential neighborhood nearby. Deputies in unmarked cars attempted to block the stolen vehicle in the parking lot, but Ortiz intentionally struck both cars before fleeing the area. While at the stop light at the intersection of Poinciana Boulevard and Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, Ortiz intentionally struck three other vehicles before leaving the area. Deputies were able to stop the stolen vehicle near the intersection of Kyngs Heath and take Ortiz and Williams into custody. No one was injured during this incident.

Ortiz was arrested and charged with Grand Theft Auto, 2 counts of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer and 3 counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. In addition, Ortiz is charged with 3 counts of Aggravated Child Abuse because three children were in one of the vehicles she hit. Williams was charged with Resisting Without Violence. Both suspects were booked into the Osceola County Jail.
