Arrest Made for Car Burglaries in Poinciana
Osceola County, Florida – On April 28 at approximately 2:15 a.m., Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 627 Elbridge Drive in Poinciana in reference to reports of car burglaries. While on scene, deputies observed a suspicious vehicle leaving the area. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle sped away at a high rate of speed, so the traffic stop was terminated.
A short time later, deputies received a call regarding a motor vehicle accident in the area of Alpine Court. Upon arrival, deputies recognized the vehicle as the same car from earlier. A male was climbing out of the passenger window and fled into a nearby wooded area. Deputies and the K-9 Unit located the male and another male, both later identified as Jesus Reyes-Cartagena and Michael Baez-Goytia, a registered felon, in the wooded area. They were taken into custody and deputies located stolen property in the suspects’ vehicle. Based on the victims’ statements and evidence, both suspects were arrested and charged with 2 counts of Unoccupied Car Burglary and Grand Theft. Baez was also charged with Providing False Information to Law Enforcement and Reyes was charged with Resisting without Violence.
