Major Ron Roberts began his law enforcement career in 2001 and has been a member of the Sheriff’s Office since 2007.
Major Roberts began his career as a patrol deputy and earned promotions to sergeant, lieutenant, and captain. His experience at the Sheriff’s Office covers patrol, investigations, and the training unit. The Major has been the lead defensive tactics instructor and coordinator for the Field Training Program at the Sheriff’s Office.
For over ten years Major Roberts has been a state-certified Criminal Justice Academy Instructor; and is certified to train both recruits and instructors in defensive tactics, firearms, emergency vehicle operations, FTO, line supervision, and stress management.
While a sergeant and lieutenant; he supervised in the areas of patrol and investigations and was a member of the SWAT Team. In 2017, Sheriff Russell Gibson promoted Major Roberts to Captain over Patrol East and then later that year to Major over all of Patrol. In 2019, Sheriff Russ Gibson appointed Major Roberts to Criminal Investigations Bureau.
Major Roberts has a Bachelor’s Degree from Columbia College and a Graduate from Valencia College’s Public Safety Development and Leadership Course. He graduated from Leadership Osceola in 2018 and The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy in 2020. Major Roberts also served 4 years in the United States Navy as an Operations Specialists.
