Trudi Carroll

Captain | Support Services Division

Captain Trudi Carroll began with the Sheriff’s Office in 1995, as a civilian in Corrections.  In 1996, she became dual certified as a law enforcement officer and correctional officer while working full time in the Records Section at night.  Captain Carroll held assignments as a Corrections Officer, Classification Officer, Corrections Training Officer and Corporal – supervising booking, classification, property, and the release of inmates.  She was a lead instructor and member of the Crisis Response Team, BLS-CPR instructor, human diversity instructor, local agency instructor for FCIC/NCIC, terminal agency coordinator, breath test operator, and alcohol testing program agency inspector.

Captain Carroll came back under the Sheriff in 2006, as a reserve deputy, then a patrol deputy earning promotions to deputy first class, sergeant, lieutenant and captain. Her experience at the Sheriff’s Office covers patrol, the training unit and recruiting.  The Captain has been the lead emergency vehicle operations instructor, teen driver coordinator, field training officer, sergeant and lieutenant over patrol, in addition to the lieutenant over the training unit and recruiting.

In 2019 Sheriff Russell Gibson promoted Trudi Carroll to Captain over the Support Services Division of the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.  Overseeing Research and Development, the Training and Recruiting Units, Evidence, Forensics and Latent Print Units.

Since 2004, Captain Carroll has been a state-certified Criminal Justice Academy Instructor.  She is certified to train both recruits and instructors in firearms and emergency vehicle operations. Captain Carroll also instructs Line Supervision, Middle Management and other general topics for the Criminal Justice Academy of Osceola.  Captain Carroll has served as a vehicle operations coordinator for the academy and a defensive tactics instructor, emergency vehicle operations instructor, firearms instructor, Teen Driver Challenge Instructor, taser instructor, ATV instructor, light engagements instructor, and National Self-Defense Institute SAFE instructor for the Sheriff’s Office.

Captain Carroll is a graduate of Saint Cloud High School, Valencia College and Columbia College.  She holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a management track in Law Enforcement Administration.  Captain Carroll is also an Adjunct Professor at Valencia College.
