Osceola County, Florida - (November 23, 2011) - Osceola County Investigative Bureau agents charged Mariano Echevarria-Sierra, a registered sex offender, and Angelo Fernandez with Cultivation of Cannabis, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Sierra was also charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. They will be booked into the Osceola County Jail. Later today, detectives will charge Sierra and Fernandez with Attempted Felony Murder and Shooting into an Occupied Conveyance.
The drug operation was conducted in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Agency. The Osceola County Investigative Bureau is a multi-agency task force comprised of Osceola County Sheriff's deputies, St. Cloud Police Department officers, Kissimmee Police Department officers, and Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents who investigate vice, narcotics and organized crime.
Background:
At approximately 12:22 a.m., Osceola County Investigative Bureau (OCIB) agents were conducting an operation in Poinciana after receiving information about possible drug activity. Agents were conducting surveillance at a residence located at 81 Andora Court when an occupant from the house fired multiple shots at an undercover vehicle. The vehicle was struck at least once. No one was injured during the incident. Two male suspects were taken into custody and are being interviewed at this time. Agents are obtaining a search warrant to enter the residence, but initial evidence reveals a possible drug operation.
OCIB agents obtained a warrant and have entered the house located at 81 Andora Court in Poinciana. Agents have confirmed a grow house operation at the residence and recovered approximately 20 marijuana plants. Charges are pending for the two male suspects taken into custody. The investigation is on-going at this time. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
